North Shore Vs. West Shore- Lake Tahoe

January 11, 2021 by D. Blaine Smith

The north shore compared to the south shore is a quiet crowd, but compared to the west shore it has more activities. In Tahoe City and Kings Beach you have a few shops to stroll through after you eat at some of the restaurants that look out at the Lake. On the other hand, on the west shore there are some great restaurants without the shopping or sidewalks to stroll the streets. In the summertime on both the North and West shores you have great trail systems for hiking as well as biking. Regarding beaches, the North Shore is a bit sandier whereas the west shore is a bit rockier. In the wintertime the west shore typically gets more snow than the north shore based on the way storms roll through the sierras. If you are looking to ski, both the north and west shore are in close proximity to ski resorts and if you like a noticeably quiet crowd the west shore is probably the place for you. Although the homes are typically close together, there is not a lot of distractions. The north shore is a quiet area as well with a little more traffic along the roads. Deciding on whether the north or west shore is better for you? You might just have to try them both and find out for yourself. Depending on what you like to do, both spots have plenty to do with many attractions. Maybe go check out the trail systems along with a bike ride or relax on the beaches and figure out which spots are your favorite. Go explore both areas of the lake and determine which you like better because when comparing these shores, it’s hard to pick.
